About me

I built my first website in 2008, aged fourteen, for a construction firm in my home town. I was self-taught then and largely still am: I learnt by building, experimenting and getting things wrong.

From there, one step at a time, I built dozens of websites, and that work paid for part of my university studies.

I graduated in Computer Science at the University of Perugia in 2016, a few months early, defending a thesis on my contribution to the open source project LibreOffice. I chose work over a master's degree: a week after graduating I started as a Front-end Developer at Vendini, an American company building ticketing software, where I stayed for over three years.

In 2020 I moved to Berlin to work at Babbel, best known for its language learning platform, as a Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Manager. I then joined Automattic, the fully remote company behind WordPress, WooCommerce and Tumblr, in the Email Engineering team, helping build an infrastructure able to process millions of emails every day. Today I work full time, remotely, as a Web Architect at another major international company.

I left Italy at twenty-five to move to Germany, and today I live in Portugal. I still call myself a “digital nomad”, though by now it is more a way of being than a label: I like to travel, to learn new languages and to get to know different cultures.

What I love about this trade is how fast it evolves. You cannot afford to stop studying, because the risk of falling behind is always around the corner. Lately I have been experimenting, on personal projects, with prompt engineering, AI agents and automations, as well as Generative Engine Optimization (GEO): the set of techniques that help a site or a product get cited by AI platforms.

If you have a project in mind, a technical question, or you simply want to talk an idea through, get in touch using the form above. I read every message personally and I usually reply quickly.

Why VISIO Multimedia?

Visio comes from the Latin vīsĭo, visiōnis: "vision", "the act of seeing", but also "mental image", "idea", "conception". It is that last sense that made me fall for the name: I like turning what still exists only in the imagination, mine or my clients', into something concrete, tangible and usable. In that sense VISIO stands for the idea of a digital visionary: someone who imagines first and builds after.

And Multimedia? When I started, in 2008, I wanted to explore everything the digital world let you make: websites, applications, graphics, video and much more. Hence the name VISIO Multimedia, born to describe work that cut across different media and languages. Over the years I specialised mostly in the web, e-commerce and graphic design, but the name stayed, along with the idea underneath it: giving shape to ideas.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.
