Wide GitHub
A browser extension that makes GitHub’s layout wide, stretching it to the full width of the window. Built for people who work on large monitors, it removes the empty bands on the sides and gives more room to code, diffs, pull requests, issues and discussions.
It works on GitHub, Gist, GitHub Pages and GitHub Enterprise, and lets you add the domain of any self-hosted instance straight from the popup. The wide layout switches on and off with one click, and your preferences sync across devices through the browser.
Available for Firefox, Chrome and Edge from a single codebase, it is open source and collects no data. I told the story of how it started in this article.
Wide GitHub arrives on Microsoft Edge. Access to custom domains becomes optional: the extension asks for it only when you add a domain.
The extension is rewritten from scratch, with a settings panel and custom domains, and arrives on the Chrome Web Store.
Wide GitHub now supports GitHub Gist too, thanks to a user's contribution.
A toolbar button arrives, to switch the wide layout on or off page by page.
The styles are rewritten for GitHub's new design: the content adapts to any screen width, and initial GitHub Enterprise support arrives.
The first version of Wide GitHub is released, for Firefox.
