Interstellar + TRON: Legacy = Spectacular.

Interstellar, Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film released between late October and early November 2014, is a masterpiece. One to watch over and over. Praised by critics for its dialogue, the sublime performances of its leads, the special effects and the soundtrack, it was a box-office record breaker and it’s one of my favorite films.
TRON: Legacy, the Disney film released in late 2010, much appreciated for its special effects and soundtrack, was a box-office success. This one is also one of my favorite films.
But what do these two great films have in common? Yes, the genre, since both are “science fiction”. And not just that.
If you listen to the main theme of the TRON: Legacy soundtrack, composed by Daft Punk, you’ll notice it has the same chords as the one Hans Zimmer composed for Interstellar. The musical genres are completely different – the first is heavily electronic and the second leans more classical – and it’s not a similarity you pick up easily, so it’s surely a coincidence and there’s no point talking about plagiarism.
I noticed it while I was playing “No Time for Caution”, from Interstellar. So my cousin Paolo and I decided to record our rearranged version of the TRON: Legacy theme, mixed with “No Time for Caution” (the Interstellar track playing in the background of the docking scene). The result is quite peculiar; I published it on my YouTube channel after putting together a video with clips from both films’ trailers.
I’m sharing it here too, hoping that some fan of both films (like me) will enjoy it. Happy listening!
